This Monotype with Chine Colle’ is a celebration of the fall season, when Pokeweed berries and Goldenrod are at their peak.

This mixed media mono print was created during our snow storm. As the snow came down and the birds flew from one berry bush to another, I was so grateful for their lively behavior. I drew into the print with color pencils, to bring out the personality of the birds and capture the spirit.

Monoprint reflecting coastal species devastated by the oil spill. This monoprint was in the ‘Exxon Valdez Environmental Impact Installation.’

Sea Otters live in Prince William Sound, Alaska. Following the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill, I volunteered at the Sea Otter Rescue Center in Seward Alaska. As I monitored a ‘Pod” I became attached to these sleek, acrobatic mammals who were recovering. This monoprint captures their poignancy and in a primitive iconography lists the total number of dead sea otters that were washed ashore. This print was part of the “Exxon Valdez Environmental Impact Installation.” That show traveled to three different cities. And this monoprint was juried into several different gallery shows.

The Robins come once a year to eat every red berry-like drupe off the branches. They come in large flocks, and descend on my Holly tree. Over the course of two, maybe three days they are attacking the fruit and then flying off to an adjacent tree branch to eat, think and plan their next attack. I love the annual pilgrimage in late January or early February.

I grew sunflowers last summer, they towered above everything else in my gardens, as they reached towards the sun.

This mixed-media monoprint is inspired by the robins who came to visit my Holly tree and eat their ripe red drupes. I love the organic renewal that takes place underground, those drupe seeds have a second life in the soil, after the bird disperses the seed.
